Famous Building of London![]() Any list of very famous buildings in London would be almost endless, so given that most people don't have a lifetime to look around, infact they only have a few days ... ... I came up with this shortlist of the absolute essentials St Paul's Cathedral, one of the truly great European Cathedrals, this is a Baroque masterpiece designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1673. While you are in the area, I think you get a feel for the age of London, as St Paul's is in the heart of the city and many of the buildings standing around in the locale are generally not noted but are also very old and substantial structures - of course there are modern blocks too!! Big Ben, ok you've bought the postcard, so you probably should have a look too, Big Ben many Londoners will pedantically tell you is actually the name of the bell inside and not the clock tower itself! Tower Bridge & Tower of London, again these need no introduction, we've all seen the pictures of the Bridge and the reality lives up to expectation, while in the area the Tower of London is interesting too and houses the Crown Jewels - if you want to see some serious rocks* then that's the place. * rocks = diamonds next ... some traditional Shopping in London useful pages: useful references (other wesites): |
